AIDS United and the Southern HIV Impact Fund awarded The Poverello Center $10,000 today to help cover the costs of program participant food in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma losses. “We’re so grateful to have organizations with the National reach and reputation that these groups have helping to feed our most vulnerable people with HIV in Broward County” Thomas Pietrogallo, CEO of the Poverello Center said today. He also indicated that the local community has been generous in helping restore the food lost when the hurricane hit and the organization lost power for five days. “Certain groups in our community have always shown love for people with HIV, especially people here in Wilton Manors, but donations came to us from generous people from all over the country” Pietrogallo added.

AIDS United’s Misssion “is to end the AIDS epidemic in the United States.” They “seek to fulfill our mission through strategic grantmaking, capacity building, policy/advocacy, technical assistance and formative research.”

The Southern HIV Impact Fund is generously supported by Gilead Sciences, Ford Foundation, Elton John AIDS Foundation, and Viiv Healthcare.
