Barbie® and Ken® are coming to Ft. Lauderdale in 2011

We are excited to announce that Barbie® and Ken® are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Ken® doll here in Ft. Lauderdale. Join the 2011 National Barbie® Doll Collectors Convention (NBDCC) July 27 thru July 30, 2011 at the Harbor Beach Marriott. This annual Barbie® convention is held in a different city each year. The 4 day event is only open to registered conventioneers. On Saturday the salesroom is open to the public. The “Open to the public” sales room day is a popular event where non-conventioneers can come to shop for Barbie® Doll related items. The theme for the 2011 NBDCC is: Barbie® and Ken® Spring Break 1961. The convention will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ken® Doll which was introduced in 1961.

A wonderful part of each year’s convention is raising funds for local charities; The 2011 NBDCC has selected the Poverello Center to work with as part of their community outreach. The convention delegates meet at the center and are excited to be working with such a wonderful cause. The 2011 convention will host a silent auction. Doll artists from around the world donate One Of A Kind (OOAK) dolls that will be auctioned off during the convention. 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction go directly to the selected charity.

The convention welcomes everyone to register and join us for the 4 days of Barbie® fun. We have many “first timers” each year. If you can’t join us for the convention itself, please join us for the “OPEN TO THE PUBLIC” sales day on Saturday July 30th. Vendors come from all around the world to sell everything from the first 1959 Barbie® Doll to current products. Or bring us your dolls from the attic and get a free appraisal. We have experts in the field to assist you.
