
POVERELLO'S FATHER COLLINS TURNS 79
On Friday night, February 19, 2010 the community will come together for a very special Birthday Celebration; Father William Collins, OFM, founder of the Poverello Center and Food Bank will turn 79 years old.
The event will be marked by a very special program titled "An Evening With The Stars" hosted by the "First Lady" of Poverello, Nicolette and will also include special performances by Joe "Joan Rivers" Posa, Cashetta, Florida's own Dame Edna, Nikki Adams, Shardee Ross, Charleze Angel, and many surprise entertainers as a tribute to the unwavering work to feed thousands of men, women and children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
Father Collins founded the Poverello Center and Food Bank nearly 23 years ago operating out of the trunk of his car and used much of his pension to open the first thrift store.
The event will also feature gourmet appetizers, a cash bar, silent auction, raffles and 50/50 and many surprises for Father Bill. The event will be held at the Italian-American Civic League located at 2310 NE 7 Avenue, Wilton Manors, Fl. Cocktails begin at 7:00pm with show beginning at 8:00pm.
Advance tickets are $45.00 and at the door $50.00 (if available). Tickets are on sale at the Poverello Office at 2292 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, Fl. or online at www.poverello.org. All major credit cards are accepted as well as Pay-Pal.
